 About Us
 Print this page

Hello and welcome to the Amelia County Volunteer Fire Department. We are a 100% volunteer department with 125 volunteers manning five stations throughout the county. The volunteers respond to fire & EMS emergencies throughout the county and also assist our neighbors with mutual aid when needed. We are a rural community with approximately 14,000 citizens and we are located 30 miles west of the city of Richmond, VA. Amelia county borders Chesterfield county to the east and Powhatan county to the north.

The members do a wide variety of training in and out of the county to try and stay on top of the ever changing environments around us. Amelia county has US HWY 360 that runs throughout the county from east to west. This highway is very heavily traveled 24/7 by tractor and trailers hauling every type of goods on the market today. In 2007 the volunteers responded to 927 calls between the five stations. These calls range from vehicle accidents, structural fires, farm machinery accidents, mine rescues and a wide variety of EMS calls.

We welcome you to visit our county and to stop by one of our five fire stations at any time.
